Airbrush makeup kit, can you use a different foundation than the one that comes with it?

I'm planning on buying the luminess airbrush kit (0 hopefully worth it) but i heard customer service/shipping is terrible! So i was wondering if I could just buy my own liquid foundation and use it instead of the 'Luminess' brand liquid foundation.
Will it work as well?
